š¬ 8th-grade scientists put natural selection to the test! š¦
Our 8th-grade science students recently dove deep into the world of natural selection with the "Battle of the Beaks" lab! They explored how different "beaks" (represented by various utensils like forks, tweezers, and clothespins) are better suited for picking up different "food" sources (like beans, rice, and pasta).
This hands-on experiment allowed students to:
* Observe how variations in beak shape and size impact feeding efficiency.
* Simulate how environmental pressures can drive adaptations.

Our incredible middle school band director, Mrs. Julie Lucky, continues to lead our students to excellence! This week, both our 6th grade AND 7th/8th Honors Band attended band assessmentāand once again, they returned with distinguished ratings from all judges!

Mrs. Callahan's 7th grade social studies classes went crusading to the Holy Land! Armed with shields and led by a guide, the students were led on a simulated journey of what the historical crusaders experienced. This activity is a part of the Middle Ages unit that the students are currently studying. It was a fun day bringing history to life!

We are bursting with pride to announce that Rylan Ross, Addlee Miles, Allen Soper, Marymichael Gasser, Isaac Powers, and Lillian Dunn have been selected for the Kentucky Music Educators Middle School All State Bands! š¶
Out of 553 talented middle school students from 95 schools across Kentucky who auditioned, these outstanding students were chosen for this prestigious honor. Rylan, Addlee, and Allen will be performed in the Concert Band, while Marymichael, Isaac, and Lillian were in the Symphonic Band. š¤©
They recently performed for a standing room only audience at the Glema Mahr Center on March 8, showcasing their hard work and dedication. š
