We appreciate our Harrison County School Board Members!

Students, Staff and Families,
We received several reports this evening of snow covered and icy roads throughout the county. Much of this is as a result of wind blowing snow back across previously plowed roads that were fine earlier today. Mr. Blackburn and I just got back from checking these locations and they will require further plowing and salting before buses can travel. As a result, the Harrison County School District will be operating on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 15. This means that if you are a bus rider and your normal bus pickup time is 6:45 your new pickup time tomorrow will be 8:45. If you are transported by car your drop off time will now be 9:25. As a reminder to pre-school families, there is no pre-school when operating on a two-hour delay. If you have special circumstances you may call your school at 7:30.
Thank you for your understanding and be safe.

The Harrison County School District will be open for in-person learning on regular schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, January 14. We can't thank our county road crews, school maintenance and custodial staff enough for their amazing work clearing and cleaning roads, parking lots and side walks of snow and ice. We do have some roads with turnarounds where buses will not be able to travel but those families have been notified. Additionally, road space is limited on some county roads making passing other vehicles more difficult. Please allow for extra time for personal travel and watch for our buses on the roads. We hope to see all students and staff safely back in school tomorrow. A voice call sharing this same information will be sent to all parents after 5 pm today.

Due to conditions on several roads and many bus turnarounds impacting bus transportation, the Harrison County School District will be closed to in-person services tomorrow, Monday January 13. We will observe a day # 4 of NTI Instruction.

Lance Corporal Carter Moore, a 2023 graduate of Harrison County High School and member of the U.S. Marine Corps, was given the honor of standing guard over the body of former President Jimmy Carter as he laid in state this week at the U.S. Capitol. President Carter, who served as our nation’s 39th president, passed away December 29, 2024. Moore and other members of the military were chosen to stand guard as the public came to pay their respects to the former president. We are very proud of Moore and thankful for his service to our country.

In continuance of our school closing announcement earlier this week, today, Friday, January 10 is NTI Day 3. All students should be working each day on their assignments and reaching out to their teachers for any guidance or support. Students, please complete your work daily.

Today, we honor our brave law enforcement heroes on National Law Enforcement Day! Harrison County Public Schools appreciates your dedication and service to our community. Thank you for keeping us safe and protecting what matters most. You are truly appreciated!
